A Hundred Objects Close By
I know a cure for sadness: Let your hands touch something that makes your eyes smile. I bet there are a hundred objects close by that can do that. Look at beauty's gift to us - her power is so great she enlivens the earth, the sky, our soul. ************ A dear friend once said of the feminine, "Beauty makes life worth living." So, I want to tell you about a little practice of mine. I warn you, it's addictive... I have something I call my "morning practice". It feeds me. It's mine. It's ever changing and also constant. There are many steps in the dance of my morning practice. This is the one I'll share with you today. -- Touch something that makes your eyes smile. -- What if we woke each morning in search of something beautiful to make our eyes smile? I mean, really! What if we woke to this world ready to receive beauty with our whole bodies? To touch, for example, the milk white flesh of the Calla Lilly is to touch Venus herself. Or perhaps, to trace with a finger tip, even one stitch on a crazy quilt, hand sewn by some unknown woman years ago. Or, what of allowing the glowing new tips of the Douglas Fir, soft and fragrant to brush your cheek as you pass, tender as a mother's gaze. What happens when we allow beauty to open us into our own bodies? What beauty makes your eyes smile?

Hello Dear OneThe feminine is mystery and matter. It exists in each of us regardless of gender. So much of the unique wisdom of the feminine has been manipulated, devalued, or forced into hiding. The way we have ignored this part of ourselves shows in our anxiety, depression, exhaustion. It shows in the scars of the earth, and the grief in our hearts.
